STEI SEBI's Islamic Accounting Students Participate in International Conference
Students from the Islamic Accounting program at Sekolah Tinggi Ekonomi Islam (STEI) SEBI attended the UIN Annual Conference on Economics and Business on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
During the conference, Ahnaf, a 2020 student of the Islamic Accounting program, presented his research alongside his advisor, Dr. Sepky Mardian, SAS. The research, titled “The Roles of Financial Literacy Level, Social Media, and Religiosity in Takaful Purchase Intention,” explores factors influencing public interest in Islamic insurance.
The study examined three variables: Islamic financial literacy, religiosity, and social media usage. Following rigorous testing, Ahnaf found that all three variables positively impacted the community's interest in utilizing Islamic insurance.
For Ahnaf, this was his first experience at an international conference. “I am grateful for this opportunity, and I would like to thank Mr. Sepky for guiding me to this point. Honestly, this is my first time presenting outside the classroom. Usually, I just give presentations in class, but now I am presenting at an international forum,” he said.
STEI SEBI sent three teams representing different programs, including Islamic Accounting, Islamic Business Management, and Islamic Economic Law, consisting of both faculty and students. These teams were selected through a competitive process organized by the conference committee and SEBI's internal research unit, SIBER-C. The leadership at STEI SEBI expressed great appreciation for this participation. “We highly value this achievement. It will certainly enhance SEBI's international exposure portfolio and complement the recommendations from our internal quality audit,” stated Dr. Sepky, who is also the Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs at STEI SEBI.
