SEBI School of Islamic Economics(STEI SEBI) has partnered with the Secretariat and the General Secretariat of the Constitutional Court through the Pancasila and Constitutional Education Center to conduct a three-day training program on citizens' constitutional rights. This event took place from May 19 to 21, 2025, via Zoom, with participation from students and faculty members. Many students attended collectively in classrooms, enhancing their national awareness and constitutional understanding.
The training was officially opened by the Honorable Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Suhartoyo, S.H., M.H., who delivered a welcoming speech marking the beginning of the constitutional training series. Also present was the Chairman of STEI SEBI, Sigit Pramono, Ph.D., CA., CPA., who expressed appreciation for this educational initiative as a synergy between higher education and constitutional institutions to strengthen national values among academics.
Day One: Revitalizing the Implementation of Pancasila Values
The first day focused on the theme of revitalizing Pancasila values, featuring Prof. Dr. Sudjito Atmoredjo, S.H., M.Si., a professor from Gadjah Mada University, as the keynote speaker. He emphasized the importance of establishing Pancasila as the philosophical foundation and source of all legal norms in Indonesia. Prof. Sudjito explored the profound meanings of each principle of Pancasila, highlighting the relationship between humans, God, fellow beings, and the state. He reminded participants that law in Indonesia should not only be legally formal but must also uphold the moral and cultural values of the nation. This training served as a reflective moment for the STEI SEBI community to integrate Pancasila into everyday life and national legal governance.
Day Two: Ensuring Citizens' Constitutional Rights
On the second day, discussions centered on the guarantees of citizens' constitutional rights as outlined in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, led by Prof. Dr. Agus Riwanto, S.H., M.H., a professor at Sebelas Maret University. He explained the fundamental concept of human rights (HAM), which are universal and inherent to every individual. Prof. Agus detailed the principles and scope of human rights, as well as the historical dynamics surrounding the drafting of the 1945 Constitution. He highlighted various laws that serve as the legal framework for human rights in Indonesia and discussed the state's obligations in promoting, protecting, fulfilling, and enforcing these rights.
Day Three: Utilizing Information and Communication Technology in the Constitutional Court
The final day addressed the use of information and communication technology in handling cases at the Constitutional Court. Ishak Purnama, S.Kom., from the Constitutional Court's Information and Communication Technology Center, presented on the digital transformation within the court aimed at enhancing service and transparency. He introduced the court's digital security systems, including software and hardware such as PALOALTO and IRON PORT, alongside server backup systems. Additionally, he explained the implementation of online hearings through PMK No. 1 of 2021 and the SIMPEL.MKRI.ID application, which facilitates electronic submissions of constitutional cases. This session illustrated how technology can strengthen access to justice and efficiency in the constitutional judiciary system.
The event was met with enthusiasm from the STEI SEBI academic community, who appreciated the educational and inspirational approach taken by the Constitutional Court. Through this training, it is hoped that students will not only grasp legal and constitutional theories academically but also internalize constitutional values in their national life. This three-day program marks an important milestone in fostering legal awareness based on Pancasila values among academics.
