Sharia Economic Law Study Program 2020 Sekolah Tinggi Ekonomi Islam (STEI) SEBI Depok held a scientific visit to the Sharia Arbitration Board (Basyarnas) MUI on Saturday, January 21, 2023 . The event was held online using Zoom Meeting. The event was filled by Dr. Achmad Djauhari, SH, MH as vice chairman of Basyarnas MUI and also Mr. Rio Erismen Armen, Lc, MA., PhD as Chairman of Sharia Economist Law Study Program STEI SEBI.
The event was opened with remarks by the Head of HES Study Program, a lecturer who teaches the Sharia Aribitrase course and also remarks from the secretary of Basyarnas MUI. The next event was the delivery of material by Dr. Achmad Djauhari, SH, MH. He conveyed from the understanding of arbitration, legal principles and basis, and so on.
"The philosophy of dispute resolution is basically trust, just like when someone has a dispute and they appoint someone and they believe that person has the ability to resolve nicely, beautifully and peacefully. So people who have such abilities can be trusted by the public, usually the flying hours are high. Then it appears in the formulation in law 20 on the requirements of arbitrators aged 35 and experienced 15 years. This requirement states that if examined the requirement is cumulative rather than alternative, age and experience must exist as an arbitrator." Dr. Achmad Djauhari
He also said that resolving disputes through sharia arbitration has advantages, including efficient time, energy, closed trial processes, arbitrators appointed directly by the parties and also the arbitral award shall be final & binding and have executory force.
"Dispute resolution through the Shari'ah Arbitration system, as a logical consequence for believers where they are obliged to become Muslims in kaaffaah, is a solution that can meet the needs of the Muslim community in Indonesia, especially those related to civil law. Because the concept of Shari'ah Arbitration contains a choice of business objects that are in accordance with Islamic Shari'a, the contracts are also in accordance with the Sharia contract, if a dispute occurs it can be resolved by shari'ah and dignity (closing disgrace)", Dr. Achmad Djauhari.
The event ran for 2 hours and was finally closed by a question and answer with students.

And agribusiness is the 3 largest sectors in Indonesia that absorb the highest workforce. This is certainly an opportunity that must be welcomed carefully," said remarks from Sigit Pramono, PH, D, CA, CPA (Chairman of STEI SEBI) when opening this event.

STEI SEBI Achieves Excellent Institutional Accreditation from BAN PT
SEBI College of Islamic Economics (STEI) has achieved Excellent accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) based on the Decree of the Director of the Executive Board of BAN-PT No. 44/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.KP/PT/I/2023 which will take effect on January 18, 2023. The "Very Good" Decree and Certificate were obtained through the mechanism of the Conversion Supplement Instrument (ISK). ISK is an additional accreditation instrument used for decision making to convert accredited ratings obtained with the 7 Standard Higher Education Accreditation Instrument into new accreditation ratings in accordance with the APT 3.0 instrument with 9 standards. To note, accreditation ratings with 7 standards are A, B, C and Not Accredited, while accreditation ratings with 9 standards are Excellent, Very Good, Good and Not Accredited.
Accreditation conversion is carried out by STEI SEBI to ensure the maintenance and improvement of the quality of the tridharma of higher education. The accreditation process is carried out by a working team formed based on the Decree of the Chairman of STEI SEBI. The accreditation process is a response to the new provisions of accreditation 9 standards issued by BAN-PT. SEBI's STEI accreditation, which is still valid until April 2023, needs to be converted to a new standard by meeting the Conversion Supplement Instrument (ISK) mechanism.
"Actually, SEBI's STEI institutional accreditation is still valid until April 2023, but because there are new regulations regarding 9 standard accreditations, SEBI is given the opportunity to conduct ISK. This means that we are allowed to convert the previous accreditation standard to the new standard." said Dr. Sepky Mardian, SAS as the Head of the Work Team.
The work team formulated the ISK document for approximately 3 months. After all stages and completeness in ISK are met, the document is uploaded online old SAPTO (Online Higher Education Accreditation System) managed by BAN-PT. Based on monitoring the status of ISK submissions at SAPTO, it is known that SEBI's STEI accreditation has passed the conversion of accreditation ratings from the original "B" to "Very Good" as of January 18, 2023.
“... We do this UTI effectively for 1 month, but because we don't do it continuously so we need about 3 months. The completed ISK was submitted in early December 2022 on the SAPTO website. Alhamdulillah, as of January 18, 2023, ISK was declared accepted and SEBI's STEI accreditation was successfully converted from Good to Very Good," said Sepky.
Furthermore, the reaccreditation process will follow the new provisions, namely through direct monitoring by BAN-PT of SEBI's STEI tridharma data in the Higher Education Database (PDDikti) or what is called the Accreditation Rating Monitoring and Evaluation Instrument (IPEPA). "Accreditation of these 9 standards emphasizes more on outputs that must be integrated from all tridharma activities of higher education. For this reason, this fulfillment requires serious attention to the importance of implementing the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) of higher education," explained Sepky. STEI SEBI through the Internal Quality Assurance Unit has established quality standards and conducts periodic quality audits of units under STEI SEBI. The results of the internal quality audit become data that illustrates the performance achievements of the tridharma of higher education and has been used as one of the baselines in determining SEBI's STEI work program in 2023 and beyond.
