Depok, November 19, 2025 — The Islamic Banking Study Program at SEBI Institute successfully conducted an interactive guest lecture focused on strengthening the economy through Islamic Microfinance Institutions (BMT). The event, themed “The Strategic Role of BMT in Strengthening Access to Financing for SMEs and Communities,” was held on Wednesday, November 19, at SEBI Hall and attended by approximately 160 participants, including Islamic Banking students, faculty, and invited guests. The event ran from 08:30 to 13:00 WIB.
This guest lecture featured Aslichan Burhan, S.E., M.P., Executive Director of PINBUK Indonesia, as the expert speaker. Prior to the main session, the event opened with welcoming remarks from the Vice Rector and a representative from BMT Muamalah Mandiri.
Dr. Sepky Mardian, S.E.I., M.M., SAS, Vice Rector I of SEBI, stated in his opening remarks, “This event reflects SEBI Institute's commitment to providing applicable learning experiences relevant to industry needs. We hope students can understand and internalize the socio-economic values that underpin BMT as a microfinance institution.”
Pujianto, Supervisor of BMT Muamalah Mandiri, also delivered a speech, emphasizing, “BMT plays a vital role in expanding access to financing for small communities. The collaboration between BMT and educational institutions like SEBI is crucial for producing competent human resources in economic development.”
Following the opening remarks, Aslichan Burhan presented on the essential functions of BMT. He highlighted that BMT is more than just a financing provider; it serves as an empowerment agent that plays a strategic role in strengthening SMEs. “BMT's strategy should focus on intensive mentoring and diversifying products that meet the real needs of SMEs and communities,” he explained. Aslichan further noted the importance of adopting digital technology to expand service outreach and enhance operational efficiency.
The event concluded with a discussion session addressing the challenges and strategic approaches to empowering communities and supporting SMEs. The lecture was interactive and concluded successfully at 13:00 WIB.
