Depok, July 21, 2025 – In a bid to enhance literacy and the development of human resources in the Islamic finance sector, particularly within Islamic People's Economic Banks (BPRS), the SEBI Institute, in collaboration with the New Student Admissions Office and Ikosindo (Indonesian Cooperative Association), hosted an Open House and National Webinar themed “Developments in BPRS, Opportunities & Challenges for Human Resources.”
The event took place online via Zoom on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 7:45 PM to 9:30 PM WIB and was open to the public, especially students, practitioners, and prospective professionals in Islamic banking in Indonesia.
The webinar featured keynote speaker Alfi Wijaya, Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Islamic People's Economic Banks (Himbarsi), who provided a strategic overview of the current state and future of BPRS in Indonesia. He highlighted the industry's challenges, including the need for enhanced human resource competencies and technological adaptation.
Iwan Rudi Saktiawan, SSi, MAg, CIRBD, a Policy Analyst from KNEKS, also participated, discussing national policies and the direction for strengthening human resources in the BPRS industry. Additionally, Firmansyah, SEI, MM, Head of the Islamic Banking Program at the SEBI Institute, introduced accelerated academic programs, such as the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or fast-track pathways for prospective students.
This event is part of the SEBI Institute's Open House series aimed at introducing higher education programs that align with industry needs. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions directly and explore career and further educational opportunities in Islamic finance.
Through this initiative, it is hoped that collaboration among academics, industry players, and regulators will strengthen human resources as a crucial foundation for developing a competitive, professional, and adaptive BPRS in a changing landscape.
