Depok — Institut Agama Islam SEBI (IAI SEBI) celebrated its 27th anniversary with heartfelt reverence and a sense of collective spirit on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the SEBI campus in Depok. The event was attended by leadership members of IAI SEBI, including Rector Dr. Sigit Pramono, Vice Rectors Dr. Endang Ahmad Yani, Fahmi Sahbudin, M.E.Sy., Dr. Sepky Mardian, and Sri Mulyani, M.Ak., along with faculty and academic staff. Also present was Drs. Charmeida Tjokrosuwarno, M.A., M.Com., a member of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Bina Tsaqofah, who provided guidance and motivation to the entire academic community.
In his speech, Rector Dr. Sigit Pramono emphasized the importance of sincerity in carrying out institutional responsibilities. He noted that all collective efforts at SEBI must be initiated with genuine intentions for the sake of Allah SWT, ensuring that every act of service brings blessings and benefits to the community. “Everyone gathered here is united by goodness. Our collective efforts at SEBI should begin with pure intentions,” he stated. He also expressed gratitude that SEBI is increasingly recognized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Kopertais, as evidenced by assessor evaluations directly assessing the institution's quality, governance, and academic achievements.
Meanwhile, Drs. Charmeida Tjokrosuwarno, M.A., M.Com., emphasized that the progress of the institution can only be achieved through synergy and shared determination. He acknowledged that, throughout its long journey, managerial challenges are inevitable. However, he asserted that the key to success lies in the ability of all campus elements to remain solid and supportive of one another. “We must move forward together, despite numerous managerial challenges. The institution must be nurtured with a spirit of togetherness,” he remarked.
Furthermore, Charmeida reminded everyone to nurture the grand vision of SEBI to become a leading Islamic institution both nationally and globally. “We must preserve that dream because we will reach it. We need to be brave to take further steps, organize ourselves, and build solidarity to achieve our goals,” he articulated. He also stressed the role of SEBI’s youth in driving change. “The youth under SEBI must take the lead. Utilize available technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to strengthen the institution’s competitiveness,” he added.
Charmeida also congratulated SEBI on its successful transformation from a School of Islamic Economic Studies (STEI) to Institut Agama Islam SEBI (IAI SEBI). This transformation, he noted, is a crucial milestone demonstrating SEBI's readiness to expand its role and contribution in Islamic education. “Alhamdulillah, we have transformed from STEI to an institute. Now, the focus should be on how we can produce more work, increase student enrollment, and enhance our academic reputation,” he said.
The 27th anniversary celebration was a reflective moment for the entire academic community of Institut SEBI to strengthen intentions, renew enthusiasm, and reaffirm commitments to achieving Islamic education that is excellent, modern, and contributes to the advancement of society.
