Depok, July 17, 2024 – The students of the Sharia Economic Law Study Program (Prodi HES) Class of 2022 at the SEBI Islamic Economics College (STEI SEBI) in Depok held a Simulated Court Practice activity with the theme "Cases of Domestic Violence (KDRT)." The Simulated Court Practice was held at the SEBI Hall building on the STEI SEBI campus in Depok on Friday, June 28, 2024.
This activity was organized to implement one of the five character traits of STEI SEBI students, which is being professional in their field, as well as to enhance the students' understanding and competence in criminal procedural law learned during their studies. It also served as evidence in implementing the knowledge and insights gained from a previous study visit to the Depok District Court.
The Simulated Court Practice was initiated by Group 3 of the HES2022B class, with a case of domestic violence between the defendant, Ucok Simatupang bin Cecep Simatupang, and the victim, Markonah binti Agus, which were pseudonyms used by the participating students. The Group 3 students demonstrated a deep understanding of their respective roles throughout the simulated trial process, from the beginning to the verdict.
Other Prodi HES students, including those from the Cikarang campus and the working student class, also attended the event and observed the proceedings with calm and enthusiasm. Approximately 50 people were present as spectators.
Adv. H. Poernomo A. Soelistiyo, S.H., MBA., CIL., CRA, the lecturer for the criminal procedural law course, expressed his profound appreciation to the Group 3 students for completing the practicum successfully, despite a few shortcomings. He emphasized that these shortcomings would not be an obstacle for the students to pursue careers in the legal field in the future. "With the practice session completed today, I am confident that the Prodi HES STEI SEBI students can compete with law students from other campuses to become legal practitioners," said Poernomo in a press release received by Milenianews.com.
Kurnia, a student in the Prodi HES working class, expressed her satisfaction with the organization of the simulated trial, stating that she gained a clear understanding of the entire court proceedings from start to finish. "I have great appreciation for my peers who played their roles well in the trial scenario, and I also express my gratitude to Mr. Poernomo for his excellent guidance," Kurnia said.
Kurnia also encouraged all the students present to be more enthusiastic in participating in the upcoming practical activities, and expressed hope that the future groups could perform even better through thorough preparation and clear scenarios.
The Simulated Court Practice activity concluded with an evaluation session, where feedback and suggestions were provided to the Group 3 performers. The event was closed with a group photo of all the participating students and the supervising lecturer [Irwan Kelana].
